GORDON WINS AT DARLINGTON

DARLINGTON, SC. (May 13, 2007) - Jeff Gordon celebrated in Victory Lane once again on Sunday, for the third time in the past four races.

While the rain may have pushed the Darlington 500 back another day, it didn't dampen Hendrick Motorsports' success with the Car of Tomorrow as Gordon drove his #24 DuPont Chevrolet to his third win of the season. Denny Hamlin finished second after leading for 179 of 367 laps in the Dodge Avenger 500, but Gordon took the lead on a late pit stop and kept his smoking vehicle together until the end. Jimmie Johnson and the #48 Lowe's team came home in third with Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards completing the top-five, respectively.

Gordon continues to lead the NEXTEL Cup Series standings with Johnson in second, 231 points behind. The series will spend the next two weeks at home in Charlotte beginning with the NEXTEL Open and NEXTEL All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 19. Coverage begins on SPEED at 7:00 pm ET. The tradtional 600-mile Memorial Day weekend event will be run on Sunday, May 27 with coverage on FOX beginning at 5:00 pm ET.
