GORDON TRIUMPHS AT TALLADEGA, 77TH WIN MAKES HISTORY

TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 29, 2007) - Jeff Gordon was in the right place at the right time Sunday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway.

The four-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup champion was in front of the field on the restart of a green-white-checkered flag finish and won the 500-mile race before a screaming crowd of 200,000 spectators. Gordon won for the second consecutive week and it also marked his fifth consecutive Top-5 finish and seventh Top-5 in nine starts this season.

Gordon, in a Rick Hendrick-owned Chevy Monte Carlo SS sponsored by DuPont, finished ahead of teammate Jimmie Johnson in a wild and wooly race that produced enough action for a season, much less a 188-lap sprint that saw the story board change as much as the lead.

The victory was the 77th of Gordons career, moving him one ahead of the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It was also the sixth win in nine races for Hendrick Motorsports this season.

Gordon extended his lead in the championship standings to 203 points over second-place Jeff Burton.
