GORDON NOT AFFECTED BY WEATHER AT DAYTONA
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2007) - With the second week of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Preseason Thunder completed, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch continued the momentum seen last week with the testing speeds of their Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Casey Mears at Daytona International Speedway.
"I'm very happy with the results of the new car that we built as well as our Shootout car -- that was the car that we had all of last year," Gordon said on Wednesday. "We made a couple of qualifying runs. The speeds were pretty good."
Gordon, a three-time Daytona 500 champion, posted the second-fastest speed Wednesday morning with a lap of 184.596 mph. Busch finished in the sixth position, piloting his car to 183.733 mph.
